Nadav Cohen  —  Biography (see also curriculum vitae)

Nadav Cohen is an Assoc. Professor of Computer Science & AI at Tel Aviv University, and a Co-Founder and the CTO at Imubit. He leads academic and industrial research spanning the foundations of deep learning (a.k.a. neural networks) through to its deployment in the physical world. His academic research group develops mathematical theories and systematic experiments aiming to yield principled algorithms that improve performance. His industrial labs develop world models for decision making (e.g., via reinforcement learning) in physical AI, with systems in production at global scale.

Nadav earned a dual BSc in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics (both summa cum laude) at the Technion Excellence Program. He obtained his PhD (direct track) at the School of Computer Science and Engineering in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, under the supervision of Prof. Amnon Shashua. Subsequently, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Mathematics in the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton), hosted by Prof. Sanjeev Arora and Prof. Elad Hazan. For his contributions to the theory and practice of deep learning, Nadav has received various honors and awards, including Senior Membership in the US National Academy of Inventors, the ERC Starting Grant, the Google Research Scholar Award, the Google Doctoral Fellowship in Machine Learning, the Rothschild Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the Zuckerman Postdoctoral Fellowship.
